Omaha, Nebraska – Cooler air is settling into eastern Nebraska this morning, with highs stuck in the low 50s and spotty sprinkles creating minor travel slowdowns through the afternoon hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, temperatures will top out near 52 degrees Monday, with a 15% chance of light rain mainly during the midday and early afternoon. While rainfall remains limited, damp roads could impact drivers along I-80 and Highway 75 during brief showers.
A rapid warmup begins Tuesday and accelerates into midweek. Highs climb into the upper 60s Tuesday before surging into the low to mid-80s by Wednesday across Omaha, Lincoln, and Norfolk. That warming trend will also bring increasing fire danger, especially Wednesday and Thursday, as dry air and gusty winds develop.
Thursday remains warm with highs nearing 80 degrees before the next system arrives. By Friday, temperatures drop sharply, and a 30% chance of precipitation returns, including the potential for a rain and snow mix across parts of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
Residents should prepare for quick swings this week, from cool and damp conditions today to summerlike warmth midweek, followed by a late-week cooldown that could briefly bring wintry weather back into the region.
