Hastings, Neb. – Temperatures across central Nebraska will plunge into the 30s early Saturday, triggering a Frost Advisory that could impact outdoor plants and sensitive crops from 1 to 9 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, a round of scattered showers and isolated storms remains possible through early Friday afternoon, especially in eastern areas. While skies will clear for the weekend with highs near the low 70s, cold overnight lows in the mid-30s Friday into Saturday morning could lead to patchy frost.
Cities including Grand Island, Kearney, and Holdrege should prepare for near-freezing temperatures by dawn Saturday. Residents are urged to cover or bring in any vulnerable vegetation and disconnect hoses to prevent damage. Saturday and Sunday will bring dry, sunny conditions with warmer overnight lows in the 40s.
Rain chances return Monday night, beginning in western parts of the state and spreading east by Tuesday. Thunderstorms are possible Monday evening with a broader area facing a 40–70% chance of rain and storms Tuesday. Daytime highs will remain mild in the low 70s through early next week.
The Frost Advisory expires Saturday morning, but updated storm alerts may follow as next week’s system develops.
