Hastings, NE – A strong winter storm blanketed Nebraska on Wednesday, leaving over five inches of snow in some areas. The storm caused slick roads and travel delays across the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, Wilsonville saw the highest snowfall at 5.5 inches. Grand Island recorded 5.1 inches, while Kearney reported 5 inches. Other affected locations included Edison with 4.5 inches and Ord with 3.8 inches.

The storm also impacted Kansas, with Glen Elder receiving 3.3 inches of snow. Road conditions became hazardous as snow continued falling overnight. Authorities advised drivers to use caution and check conditions before heading out.

Meteorologists expect temperatures to remain cold, keeping snow on the ground for several days. Crews are working to clear roads, but icy conditions may persist. Residents should prepare for continued winter weather as another system could develop later this week.
