Omaha, Nebraska – Isolated severe thunderstorms could roll through eastern Nebraska and western Iowa between 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, bringing the risk of hail up to 1 inch and winds over 60 mph. Outdoor events, travel, and evening plans could be disrupted across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, there’s a 40–60% chance of storms developing in the region this afternoon, with a 5–10% chance that any individual storm turns severe. The highest local threat is level 1 out of 5, indicating pockets of strong storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and small hail.

Communities from Omaha to Sioux City and west toward Columbus should monitor weather alerts closely. While tornado risk remains very low, any storm could intensify quickly. Areas near Lincoln, Norfolk, and Council Bluffs may also experience downpours and brief wind damage.

Officials recommend staying weather-aware by enabling wireless alerts and having multiple ways to receive warnings, especially if heading outdoors. If storms develop, seek shelter indoors until they pass.

Storm chances taper off by 8 p.m., but lingering showers may persist. Additional alerts are possible if storms strengthen unexpectedly.
