Hastings, Nebraska – Gardeners across central Nebraska should prepare for a frosty night as clear skies and light winds send temperatures plunging into the 30s, with frost advisories in effect through Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, overnight lows will dip as low as 33°F in parts of the region, with widespread frost likely west and north of the Tri-Cities. The advisory warns of potential damage to sensitive vegetation, especially in rural and low-lying areas.

By Saturday morning, frost is expected to clear quickly, setting the stage for a sunny and warm weekend. Daytime highs will climb into the low to mid-70s Saturday and Sunday, with winds remaining light and skies mostly clear across Grand Island, Kearney, and Hastings.

Rain chances return Monday night into Tuesday, with a 10–70% chance of thunderstorms depending on location. Current projections show the highest storm risks west and southwest of the Tri-Cities, possibly impacting early-week travel or outdoor plans.

Residents are urged to protect outdoor plants overnight and stay tuned for updated storm outlooks heading into Tuesday. Additional advisories may be issued if thunderstorm risks intensify.
