Hastings, NE – An Arctic front will bring dangerously cold wind chills to Nebraska, dropping temperatures well below zero starting Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service, wind chills could reach -30°F by Monday night, posing a serious risk of frostbite in minutes. Monday’s high will barely reach 11°F, with snow likely throughout the day.
Travel will be difficult, as strong winds will reduce visibility and create blowing snow hazards. Snowfall accumulations of one to two inches are expected, with more possible in isolated areas.
The coldest temperatures will arrive Tuesday night, with lows near -16°F and wind chills remaining dangerously low through Wednesday. Residents should avoid unnecessary travel, dress in layers, and ensure pets are kept indoors.
The extreme cold will persist through Thursday, with temperatures only slowly recovering by the end of the week.
