Hastings, NE – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a hazardous weather outlook for north-central Kansas, warning of light freezing rain, sleet, and slushy snow today. The advisory affects Phillips, Smith, Jewell, Rooks, Osborne, and Mitchell counties. Precipitation is expected to taper off between 3 and 4 p.m.
According to the NWS, while most travel impacts are anticipated to be minimal, isolated slick spots could develop on untreated surfaces. Motorists should exercise caution, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
In western and north-central Nebraska, light snow is forecast for the morning, with little to no accumulation expected. By the weekend, colder temperatures will dominate the region, with wind chills dipping to single digits and potentially below zero in northern Nebraska.
