Cheyenne, WY – A blizzard warning is in effect for western Nebraska, with hazardous conditions expected from late Monday night through Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, the warning covers Banner County, Kimball County, and Cheyenne County, including Harrisburg, Kimball, Sidney, and Brownson. The storm will bring 2 to 8 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 60 mph, creating whiteout conditions and making travel dangerous.

Forecasters warn that visibility could drop below half a mile due to widespread blowing snow. The transition from rain to snow will be key in determining snowfall amounts, with some areas seeing only a few inches while others experience heavier accumulation.

Travel Impact:

• Roads may become slippery and treacherous.

Whiteout conditions could make driving nearly impossible.

• Officials advise avoiding travel unless absolutely necessary.

If you must travel, keep a winter survival kit in your vehicle and call 511 for road conditions. The blizzard warning remains in effect until 5 p.m. MST Tuesday.
