Nashville, TN – Cold weather is set to sweep through Middle Tennessee this week, with freezing temperatures likely overnight starting Wednesday. The National Weather Service in Nashville reports that temperatures may drop to 32°F or lower across much of the region.
According to the agency, areas like Crossville and Tullahoma have the highest chances of experiencing freezing lows, while Nashville might stay just above freezing. If temperatures at Nashville International Airport (BNA) fail to reach 32°F this week, it could challenge the latest freeze on record, set on November 27.
The National Weather Service urges residents to take precautions, such as protecting pipes, covering plants, and bringing pets indoors. Nights on Friday and Saturday pose the greatest risks for freezes in Nashville, with probabilities nearing 60%.
Communities in Columbia, Cookeville, and Lawrenceburg should also expect freezing conditions, particularly later in the week. The cold snap marks the arrival of arctic air, which could persist through the weekend.
Officials advise staying updated on weather forecasts and preparing homes for the cold weather.
