Bozeman, MT – A fresh round of spring snow is headed for southwestern Montana, prompting a Winter Weather Advisory that could snarl travel and slow commutes into early Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Great Falls, the advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. Thursday until 3 a.m. Friday across key areas including Gallatin Valley, the Madison River Valley, and surrounding mountain ranges. Snow totals are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches in valley locations such as Bozeman and Ennis, with 3 to 7 inches forecast in the surrounding mountains and at key passes including Bozeman Pass and Norris Hill.

Drivers should anticipate slick roads and reduced visibility, particularly during the Thursday evening commute. Routes along the Idaho border—including Targhee Pass and Raynolds Pass—are also expected to see accumulating snow, with travel impacts possible through the late evening.

The advisory spans from the Bridger Mountains and Bozeman Pass southward to the Idaho state line. Officials urge drivers to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check updated road conditions via 511 or the Montana Department of Transportation’s website.

Motorists and residents should prepare for rapid changes in road conditions, especially at higher elevations.
