Billings, MT – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect across multiple regions of Montana as snow, freezing drizzle, and gusty winds create hazardous travel conditions through Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Billings, areas including Judith Gap, Livingston, Red Lodge, and Northern Carbon County can expect snow accumulations between 1 to 5 inches. The advisory remains in effect until late Tuesday, with snowfall intensifying Monday evening. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph, leading to blowing snow and reduced visibility.
In Judith Gap, patchy freezing drizzle early Monday morning could result in black ice on roads, making travel treacherous. Snowfall will increase throughout the day, with total accumulations reaching up to 3 inches.
Further west, in the Livingston area and Paradise Valley, rain will transition into snow Monday afternoon. Similar conditions are expected in Red Lodge and the Beartooth Foothills, where snowfall could total up to 5 inches by Tuesday evening.
The Montana Department of Transportation advises drivers to slow down and use caution, especially during morning and evening commutes. For updated road conditions, call 511 or visit the Montana DOT website.
Residents should prepare for rapidly changing weather and use extra caution when traveling in affected areas.
