Montana Winter Storm Warning: Up to 10 Inches of Snow Expected Through Wednesday Evening

Billings, MT – A winter storm continues to impact Montana, bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds, making travel hazardous across the state. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect until 5 p.m. MST Wednesday for multiple regions, including the Absaroka/Beartooth Mountains, Crazy Mountains, and parts of northeast Montana.

According to the National Weather Service in Billings, the Absaroka/Beartooth and Crazy Mountains are expected to receive an additional 5 to 10 inches of snow, with wind gusts reaching 40 mph. Avalanche risk is increasing, especially on south and west-facing slopes.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service in Glasgow warns of 1 to 6 inches of snowfall across northeast Montana, with the heaviest accumulation north of the Missouri River. Slippery roads could impact commutes on Tuesday and Wednesday.
