Great Falls, MT — A winter storm warning remains in effect for parts of central and southwestern Montana as snow accumulations continue through early this morning. Areas including the Little Belt and Highwood Mountains, Gallatin Valley, and the Judith Basin could see additional snow of up to four inches.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm is affecting a broad swath of Montana, from the Big Belt and Bridger Mountains to the Gallatin and Madison County Mountains. Snowfall is expected to create hazardous driving conditions, especially as roadways may freeze overnight, creating icy patches. Locations such as Bozeman, White Sulphur Springs, and Lewistown are among the areas under the warning.
The National Weather Service advises that motorists exercise caution and carry emergency supplies, including food, water, and a flashlight. Travelers can stay updated on road conditions by calling 511 or checking the Montana Department of Transportation website.
The winter storm is expected to last until 6 AM MDT, and officials urge those planning to travel in these areas to delay trips when possible.
