Billings, MT – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. today as snow continues to move across southern Montana. Accumulations of 1-2 inches are expected in areas south of I-90, with heavier snowfall reported near Red Lodge and Sheridan.
According to the National Weather Service in Billings, snowfall began early this morning and is forecast to taper off by noon in most areas. Patchy fog will linger into Monday morning, reducing visibility along I-90 and US-212. Drivers should allow extra travel time, especially near Livingston, Billings, and Lodge Grass.
Today’s high temperature will hover around 24°F, with light east winds adding to the chill. Snow will create slick and icy conditions, particularly on elevated roadways and bridges. Commuters and holiday travelers are urged to drive cautiously and monitor weather updates.
Looking ahead, Monday is expected to bring mostly sunny skies with highs near 35°F, offering a brief reprieve before another system approaches midweek. Light snow is possible Tuesday, with accumulations under an inch. Thanksgiving Day appears calmer, with highs near 30°F and a slight chance of snow in the morning.
Travelers planning Thanksgiving trips are encouraged to prepare for delays and monitor forecasts closely, especially for routes through southern Montana. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle, and check road conditions before departing.
