Billings, MT – A fast-moving weather system is forecast to bring accumulating snow to Montana’s lower elevations late Sunday into Monday, potentially impacting travel along I-90 and surrounding areas. Residents should prepare for winter driving conditions during the Monday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall is expected to begin Sunday night, with heavier accumulation possible through Monday morning. Areas near Billings, Livingston, and Red Lodge could see over two inches of snow, while higher totals are expected in surrounding mountain passes.

Travelers are advised to monitor road conditions, as visibility may be reduced, and icy patches are likely. A mix of rain and snow Sunday evening will transition to steady snowfall overnight. Temperatures will drop into the low 20s Monday night, further complicating conditions.

The forecast for the weekend includes mild weather on Saturday with highs near 45°F, but conditions will deteriorate as the system moves in. By Monday, temperatures will struggle to reach the mid-30s.

Extended forecasts show clearer skies and warmer temperatures returning Tuesday, with highs near 34°F. Local authorities urge residents to plan travel early and pack emergency kits in case of delays.
