GLASGOW, MT — Montana is bracing for a weekend with significant weather impacts, including a Red Flag Warning and a Lake Wind Advisory. Starting Saturday afternoon, the state will experience high winds and low humidity, both of which could pose significant hazards for local communities and outdoor activities.

According to the National Weather Service, a Red Flag Warning will be in effect for Northern Valley and Northern Phillips counties, including Glasgow, from noon Saturday until 8 p.m. This alert signifies a high risk of fire spread due to gusty winds, which are expected to reach up to 35 mph, coupled with humidity levels as low as 15%. Outdoor burning is not recommended in these areas. Officials are urging residents to exercise extreme caution, especially in fire-prone zones.

Meanwhile, a Lake Wind Advisory will impact Fort Peck Lake, effective from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday. Strong winds from the northwest will gust up to 35 mph, creating dangerous conditions on the water, especially for small craft. Boaters should avoid venturing out unless absolutely necessary, as high waves could overturn smaller vessels.

As we look to the weekend forecast, temperatures will remain mild, with highs in the 70s on Saturday and Sunday. Winds will persist throughout the weekend, with gusts up to 30 mph. By Sunday, conditions will become breezier, with a slight chance of showers, making for an unpredictable spring weekend.
