Billings, MT – Residents should prepare for a period of light snow beginning Monday night and continuing into Tuesday, with accumulations expected to impact local roadways. While snowfall will remain light across lower elevations, the surrounding mountains may see several inches, creating slippery travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow will develop overnight and taper off by late Tuesday. Areas like Billings, Livingston, and Red Lodge can expect 1-2 inches, while mountainous regions near Neihart and Gardiner may receive up to 6 inches. Drivers along I-90 and US-212 are urged to proceed with caution due to slick roads and reduced visibility.

Tuesday’s temperatures will remain cold, with highs hovering around 39°F and light winds out of the west. Conditions will gradually clear by Tuesday night, with lows dropping into the low 20s, bringing potential frost concerns for morning commuters.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week, the forecast promises mostly clear skies and a warming trend. Wednesday and Thursday will see partly sunny conditions with highs reaching 45-49°F, offering some relief from the wintry start to the week. By Friday, temperatures could rise to the low 50s, providing drier and milder conditions.

Motorists are encouraged to check for updated road conditions via 511 and allow extra travel time during snow-covered periods. The midweek clearing offers a good opportunity for residents to address any winter prep needs before more wintry systems return.

Stay tuned for further updates as conditions develop.
