GLASGOW, Mont. – Thin ribbons of freezing fog drift across the Milk River Valley this morning, softening the early light and hinting at chillier days ahead. After a frosty start, Montana’s northeast corner will see a quick warm-up before temperatures tumble again late in the weekend.
The National Weather Service in Glasgow reports that Thursday will bring abundant sunshine and highs near 63°F, marking one of the final mild stretches before a stronger cold front arrives Sunday into Monday. Winds will shift south-southwest Thursday afternoon, picking up to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. Friday remains breezy and mild, with highs near 65°F before clouds increase and a cooler pattern takes shape.
By Saturday, highs will fall back into the 40s under partly sunny skies, setting up a colder end to the weekend. Sunday’s highs will struggle to reach 40°F, and early Monday could deliver the area’s next brush with light snow or a wintry mix—especially north of Highway 2 and along open stretches near Hinsdale and Nashua.
Residents should watch for slick patches where fog refreezes this morning and plan for another potential freeze Monday night as lows dip into the 20s. Farmers and ranchers will get a brief reprieve from harsher air through Friday but should prepare for frost-sensitive equipment and livestock protection once colder air returns.
This week’s mild spell marks a “winter tease” for the Hi-Line region—just enough warmth to lure folks outside before early snow chances creep back into the November outlook.
