Billings, Montana – Strong thunderstorms are expected to sweep across eastern Montana today, bringing golf ball-sized hail and wind gusts up to 75 mph. Residents from Billings to Miles City should brace for storms starting earlier than usual, with severe activity possible by noon and continuing through midnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Billings, scattered severe storms could develop across much of the state beginning late morning. The highest risk zone includes areas east of Lewistown, with the primary threats being large hail and damaging winds. Secondary concerns include heavy rainfall and isolated tornado potential.
Communities including Billings, Glendive, Miles City, and Roundup may see storms capable of uprooting trees, damaging roofs, and knocking out power. Outdoor events and travel could be disrupted.
