Billings, MT – Dangerous weather conditions are forecast for southeast Montana as strong winds and blowing snow continue through Wednesday night. Travelers on key roadways, including I-90 and US-191, should prepare for reduced visibility and icy conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Billings, gusts between 50 and 75 mph are expected Tuesday, especially in Livingston and Big Timber. Snowfall will intensify Tuesday evening, potentially creating hazardous conditions along major routes. Accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are forecast, with the heaviest snow south and east of Billings.

Gusty northwest winds on Wednesday, averaging 30 to 45 mph, will worsen the impact of blowing snow. Officials urge motorists, especially those in high-profile vehicles, to use caution. Local authorities recommend checking road conditions via 511.mt.net before traveling.

By Thursday, winds will diminish slightly, but snow chances will persist. Daytime highs will remain in the low 30s through the week, with overnight temperatures dropping into the low teens. Friday may see additional snowfall with accumulations of up to half an inch possible.

This weekend, conditions will stabilize, with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-20s. However, lingering snow on roadways will require continued caution.

Residents are advised to limit non-essential travel during peak wind hours and ensure emergency kits are available when driving. Keep updated on road closures and advisories through local resources.
