Glasgow, MT – Northeast Montana is under a Winter Weather Advisory, with icy roads persisting despite snowfall ending Wednesday night.
According to the National Weather Service, approximately 3 inches of snow fell across the region earlier in the evening. While precipitation has ceased, roads remain slick and hazardous, especially untreated areas. The advisory is in effect until 5 a.m. Thursday.
Communities affected include Glasgow, Malta, Sidney, Glendive, Plentywood, and surrounding areas. Temperatures hovering below freezing are contributing to icy surfaces on highways and secondary roads. The Montana Department of Transportation warns drivers to expect dangerous travel conditions through the night.
Authorities recommend reducing speed and maintaining increased stopping distances when driving. Travelers should also avoid sudden braking and allow extra time for commutes. Road conditions can be checked by dialing 511 or visiting the state’s road information website.
This weather event follows consistent snow across Northeast Montana throughout Wednesday. Regions like Culbertson and Circle reported lower accumulations, but all areas are experiencing freezing conditions tonight. Wind chills remain moderate, though forecast temperatures could dip further by morning.
Residents are urged to monitor updates from local agencies and consider delaying travel plans until conditions improve. If driving is necessary, ensure vehicles are winter-ready and carry emergency supplies.
