Billings, MT – A frost and freeze warning is in effect for Montana tonight, with temperatures expected to fall near or below freezing across multiple regions. Outdoor vegetation, especially sensitive plants, may face damage if left unprotected.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Billings, overnight temperatures will drop to the low 30s in Billings, Livingston, and other nearby towns. Some locations, like Harlowton and Roundup, could see lows as cold as 29°F and 31°F, respectively.

The NWS urges residents to take precautions, particularly covering plants to prevent cold damage. The frost threat will last into early Tuesday morning. Many regions, including Lewistown, Cody, and Miles City, are expected to experience similar conditions.

The advisory highlights that sensitive plants without protection may be severely impacted or killed. Homeowners and gardeners should cover their plants with blankets or move them indoors, if possible. It is important to act before temperatures drop later this evening.
