Glasgow, MT – Extreme cold and heavy snowfall are set to grip northeast Montana through Wednesday, with wind chills as low as -39°F and up to 8 inches of snow expected. Authorities warn that frostbite can occur within 15 minutes on exposed skin, making travel and outdoor activities hazardous.
According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until Tuesday at noon, followed by a Winter Storm Warning from Tuesday at 5 p.m. through Wednesday at 5 p.m. Snow will begin Monday night, intensify Tuesday, and taper off by Wednesday evening. Travel conditions will deteriorate, with icy roads and limited visibility.
Tuesday’s high will be 3°F, with east winds up to 10 mph, dropping wind chills to -25°F. Overnight, temperatures fall to -4°F, with continued snowfall. By Wednesday, another 3 to 5 inches of snow could accumulate, with wind gusts up to 20 mph.
Residents should avoid unnecessary travel, dress in layers, and ensure pets have adequate shelter. If driving, carry an emergency kit, including blankets, food, and a flashlight.
