St. Louis, MO – Severe weather is anticipated to hit central and northeast Missouri as well as west-central Illinois starting tonight and extending into Saturday. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned of strong to severe storms, with the potential for large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes.
According to the NWS in St. Louis, the first round of storms is expected to develop late Friday evening and persist overnight. These storms will predominantly affect central and northeast Missouri, and west-central Illinois. The primary concerns are wind gusts reaching up to 60 mph and hail up to one inch in diameter. A brief tornado is also possible in northeast Missouri.
A second round of isolated severe storms is predicted for Saturday afternoon and evening, primarily along and south of the I-70 corridor. This round may bring similar threats of large hail and damaging winds. Residents are advised to stay alert and follow local weather updates.
The weekend weather forecast indicates a 50% chance of thunderstorms on Saturday, with temperatures reaching a high of 91°F. Sunday’s weather will be clearer with a high of 85°F. The beginning of next week will see temperatures ranging from the low 80s to the mid-90s, with sunny to partly cloudy skies.
Tuesday is expected to be the hottest day of the week with temperatures peaking at 94°F. Another chance of rain is forecasted for Thursday, with a 45% chance of showers and a high of 82°F. The air quality index remains good at 46, ensuring safe outdoor conditions.
