St. Louis, MO – A mild start to the week in Missouri will quickly shift as a cold front moves in, bringing winter weather by midweek. Temperatures will drop drastically, and snow flurries are possible Wednesday. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to prepare for icy conditions as temperatures fall below freezing overnight.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Monday will remain cloudy with highs in the mid-50s before gradual clearing in the evening. However, by Tuesday, highs will drop to the low 40s, and gusty northwest winds will make it feel even colder. By Wednesday, temperatures will struggle to reach the mid-30s, with lows dipping into the 20s. A 20% chance of snow is forecast for Wednesday morning, which could create slick roads during early commutes, especially along major routes like I-70 and I-64.
The arctic air mass will persist through Thursday, bringing daytime highs in the 20s to low 30s and overnight lows in the teens. Residents should plan for extended periods of freezing weather and ensure vehicles, pipes, and outdoor plants are protected.
Looking ahead to the weekend, slightly warmer conditions are expected Friday, but rain may return, keeping conditions damp and chilly. The NWS advises everyone to monitor updates and stay prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions this week.
