Springfield, Mo. – Much of Missouri will stay dry and mild through Monday, but rain and thunderstorms are expected to roll into the Ozarks by Tuesday afternoon, bringing a soggy midweek stretch to cities like Springfield, Branson, and West Plains.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, temperatures will rise into the upper 60s today and low 70s on Monday under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Rain chances jump to 50–75% Tuesday through Wednesday, with the potential for thunderstorms both afternoons.
Communities across Greene, Christian, and Howell counties should prepare for brief downpours, slick roads, and possible lightning. No severe weather is expected at this time, but isolated flooding in low-lying areas can’t be ruled out, especially if rain rates are high.
Drivers are urged to use caution during the Tuesday evening commute and to check road conditions on MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map. Residents should secure outdoor items, charge devices, and monitor weather alerts, particularly if thunderstorms become more widespread.
This unsettled pattern is expected to persist through Thursday before drier, cooler air returns late week. Rain chances remain high through Wednesday night, with additional advisories possible as the system develops.
