Kansas City, MO – A sharp temperature swing is underway across Missouri and eastern Kansas, with chilly early conditions giving way to an unusually warm stretch that could challenge records by Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, any lingering flurries or light freezing drizzle early Wednesday have already pushed east, leaving dry conditions in place. A steady warming trend will now take hold, driving temperatures well above seasonal averages through the end of the week.

Across northwest and north central Missouri, including St. Joseph, Chillicothe, and Kirksville, afternoon highs are expected to climb rapidly into the 60s and potentially 70s by Friday. In the Kansas City metro, the warming trend will be especially noticeable, with mild mornings giving way to springlike afternoons that may approach record territory.

Farther south toward Sedalia and Warrensburg, dry conditions will persist, increasing the potential for elevated fire concerns if winds pick up later in the week.

Residents should take advantage of the quiet weather but remain aware of changing conditions, especially with large day-to-day temperature swings. The warm pattern is expected to continue into the weekend, with additional updates possible if record highs are threatened.
