St. Louis, Missouri – Missouri’s summer weather alert begins in earnest Monday afternoon as thunderstorms return to the St. Louis area with potentially strong winds and localized flooding expected along major corridors including I-70 and I-55.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, scattered thunderstorms will redevelop Monday afternoon with rain chances increasing to 40% by evening. Gusty winds and heavy downpours could make travel hazardous from Columbia to Belleville. Spotter activation is not currently expected, but officials urge caution for those commuting along interstates or working outdoors.

By Monday night, storms could become more widespread, especially across central and northeast Missouri into southwest Illinois. Storm activity is likely to persist daily through Friday, with the highest risks occurring during afternoon and evening hours.

In Franklin, Jefferson, and Madison counties, residents should prepare for brief flooding on poorly drained roads. Keep phones charged and avoid travel during periods of heavy rainfall. While no severe weather is forecast, fast-developing storms may still cause isolated damage.
