Kansas City, Missouri – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue across much of northern and central Missouri through Friday morning, with another round of wet weather arriving Saturday that could bring isolated severe storms.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, rain chances increase to 45–55% by early Friday in cities like Kansas City, Lee’s Summit, and Sedalia. While the threat of severe weather remains low, heavier showers could impact the morning commute, especially in areas like Olathe and Leavenworth.

By Saturday morning, storm chances rise again, with a 55–60% probability of rain in Sedalia, Maryville, and Moberly between 6 a.m. and noon. The NWS notes a marginal risk for isolated strong to possibly severe storms through Saturday afternoon. Residents in central Missouri should remain alert for gusty winds and brief downpours.

Drivers are urged to slow down on wet roads and avoid flooded low-water crossings. Those with outdoor weekend plans may want to monitor updated forecasts and have indoor alternatives ready.

Rain chances taper off into Sunday, but more alerts may follow if Saturday’s storms intensify. Updates will be issued as conditions evolve.
