St. Louis, MO – Spring storms could disrupt Sunday plans across eastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois, with the National Weather Service warning of possible severe thunderstorms west of the Mississippi River.

According to the NWS in St. Louis, strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are expected Sunday afternoon into early evening, especially along the I-55 and I-70 corridors. Winds may gust up to 30 mph, with a chance of hail in stronger cells. Spotter activation is not currently anticipated, but conditions will remain unstable through early Monday.

Saturday night may bring an early round of showers and isolated thunderstorms, with a 90% chance of precipitation in St. Louis and surrounding areas. By Sunday, showers are expected to continue throughout the day, with temperatures peaking near 67°F before dipping to the low 40s overnight. Gusty winds will persist into Monday morning.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday are forecasted to be sunny with highs in the low-to-mid 60s, offering a brief return to milder spring weather. Another chance for showers and isolated storms returns Thursday and Friday, with Friday’s high nearing 78°F.

Residents should monitor local alerts and consider securing outdoor items ahead of Sunday’s storm threat. Drivers along I-55 and I-70 should use caution during peak storm hours, especially in areas prone to flooding.

Prepare for shifting spring patterns and stay weather-aware through the week.
