Springfield, MO – A narrow band of snow is forecast to sweep through Missouri Saturday, potentially impacting travel along major routes such as I-70. The National Weather Service (NWS) reports the snow will move in during the morning and could linger into the early afternoon, with the highest totals expected in central Missouri.

According to the NWS Springfield office, exact snowfall amounts remain uncertain, but areas in central Missouri could see accumulations nearing one inch. Regions farther south, including Springfield and the Ozarks, are likely to receive a dusting at most. Winds could exacerbate cold conditions, with wind chills dipping into the low 20s Saturday morning and evening.

Saturday will start with partly sunny skies and a high of 48 degrees. Winds from the south could gust up to 21 mph before shifting northwest later in the day. Overnight temperatures will drop to 24 degrees, with calm but chilly conditions expected.

The weekend overall remains cool and dry. Sunday brings sunshine with a high near 43 degrees and lighter winds. The warming trend continues into early next week, with Monday’s high reaching 41 degrees and Tuesday climbing to 48 degrees under sunny skies.

Drivers are urged to monitor weather updates and check road conditions before traveling on Saturday. Snow and low visibility could make driving hazardous along highways, especially during peak snowfall hours.
