Clinton County, MO – A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Clinton County in northwestern Missouri, with damaging winds and hail expected to impact the region until 5 p.m. CDT.

According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, a severe thunderstorm was detected near Cameron at 4:07 p.m., moving north at 65 mph. The storm is producing wind gusts of up to 70 mph and penny-sized hail, raising concerns for property damage and hazardous travel conditions.

Residents in impacted areas, including Gower, Trimble, Lathrop, Plattsburg, Cameron, Osborn, Turney, Holt, and Stewartsville, are advised to seek shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Interstate 35 travelers between mile markers 33 and 53 should prepare for rapidly changing weather conditions and reduced visibility.

The National Weather Service warns that these conditions could cause significant tree damage and structural harm to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. The storm is classified as a “considerable” thunderstorm damage threat.

Officials urge residents to remain indoors and stay updated on local weather alerts. The storm is expected to move out of the area later in the evening, but lingering impacts may affect travel and infrastructure.
