St. Louis, MO – Showers and thunderstorms are set to move into the St. Louis area today, bringing intermittent rain across much of Missouri and Illinois. Residents can expect periods of rain through the afternoon and evening, with a 15% chance of lightning strikes, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis. Although the rain isn’t expected to cause major disruptions, motorists are advised to drive with caution, as slick roads and occasional downpours may impact visibility and travel.

According to the NWS, rainfall will move west to east, with the heaviest showers likely by late afternoon, impacting cities like Columbia, Jefferson City, and Quincy. Rain chances decrease slightly tonight, but additional showers may linger into Sunday morning before clearing up by Veterans Day. Fortunately, officials report that anticipated rain amounts of 0.25 to 1 inch won’t exacerbate flooding on the Meramec River.

Sunday’s forecast shows an improvement with skies gradually clearing, leading to mostly sunny conditions by the afternoon. Highs are expected to reach near 66 degrees, providing a pleasant break from the weekend’s wet start. Veterans Day on Monday will bring sunny and mild weather, with a high around 64 degrees, offering favorable conditions for local events and observances.

Looking ahead, St. Louis residents can expect a mostly clear week, with temperatures hovering in the mid-60s and no significant rain expected through Thursday. Light showers may return midweek, but any rainfall should remain light.
