Kansas City, Missouri – Weekend sunshine is just around the corner — but first, Kansas City commuters could see storms rolling in Friday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms will develop after 4 p.m. Friday across Kansas City and surrounding counties. While severe weather is not expected, drivers along I-70 may encounter slick pavement during the evening rush.

Friday’s high will reach near 79°F under mostly sunny skies before clouds build late in the day. Skies clear again overnight with lows near 59°F and calmer winds.

By Saturday, the summer preview begins. Expect full sunshine and highs in the mid-80s across Kansas City and western Missouri. Sunday brings more of the same, with temperatures reaching 86°F under sunny skies — a strong contrast from this week’s wet and gray conditions.

Monday and Tuesday carry slight chances for afternoon showers and thunderstorms, especially during the warmest hours. Monday’s high: 86°F. Tuesday climbs further to 88°F with a 40–50% chance of pop-up storms.
