Springfield, Missouri – Drivers along and south of Interstate 44 should be prepared for dense fog lingering through this morning, reducing visibility to a half mile or less. The fog is expected to be particularly thick near rivers and valleys, creating hazardous travel conditions on major roadways.

According to the National Weather Service, the dense fog is affecting portions of southern Missouri, with the greatest impacts expected on I-44, where travel may be especially difficult. Visibility in some areas could be sharply reduced, with fog conditions persisting until mid-morning.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use low beam headlights, and exercise caution. Reduced visibility could result in sudden changes in driving conditions, particularly for those on highways or secondary roads. While fog conditions will eventually lift, drivers should remain alert and prepared for further adjustments to their route.

Warnings remain in effect until visibility improves, with updates expected as conditions change.
