Jefferson County, MO – Missouri voters in Jefferson County are contending with widespread flooding on Election Day, as heavy rainfall and flash flooding have closed numerous roads across the area, creating access challenges for many residents attempting to reach polling locations. With more rain expected through the afternoon, officials are urging caution on the roads and advising voters to plan extra time for safe travel.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a significant number of local roads remain closed due to high water, including portions of Konert Road, Old Highway M, and Northbound New Highway 21. The Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that certain polling locations are affected by these closures, potentially requiring voters to take detours. Emergency responders are actively monitoring conditions, and updates will be provided on official channels throughout the day.

The National Weather Service extended a flash flood warning until 6:30 a.m. CST for Jefferson County, along with parts of southeastern Franklin County and northern Washington County. Rain is forecast to continue into the early afternoon, with gusty winds up to 22 mph, adding to already dangerous conditions. Motorists are advised to avoid flooded areas and turn around rather than attempt to drive through high water.

Residents can expect improving conditions starting Wednesday, with partly sunny skies and temperatures reaching a high near 61 degrees. The five-day forecast shows mild weather through the weekend, though there is a slight chance of rain on Friday. Authorities encourage residents to stay informed about road and polling place updates on social media and the county’s emergency dispatch page.

Voters are reminded to exercise patience and caution when traveling, prioritizing safety over speed as they navigate alternate routes to polling sites.
