Kansas City, MO – A Freeze Warning remains in effect across much of Missouri, including Kansas City, until 9 a.m. CDT Tuesday, as temperatures drop to near 32°F overnight. Residents along I-70 and surrounding areas should take immediate precautions to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing.
According to the National Weather Service Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, sub-freezing lows as cold as 25°F were possible overnight into Tuesday morning, creating a risk of frost damage to crops and gardens. Although conditions will improve by midday Tuesday, another round of widespread frost is possible Tuesday night, particularly in low-lying areas and rural parts of the metro.
After the morning chill, Tuesday will bring sunshine and a high near 63°F, but winds will shift by Tuesday night, bringing increasing cloud cover and lows around 53°F. By Wednesday, expect a much warmer spring day with highs reaching 74°F, though gusts could peak at 24 mph, especially in exposed areas.
Looking ahead, Thursday and Friday will remain pleasant with sunny skies and daytime highs ranging from 65°F to 69°F, perfect for spring outings. Lows will hover in the mid-40s, keeping evening conditions cool but frost-free.
