By Sunday afternoon, rain becomes more widespread across Kansas City. Temperatures hover near 60°F, and winds begin to strengthen.
Travel conditions may deteriorate along I-70 and U.S. 71 as wet pavement and gusty winds develop. Some gusts could push past 40 mph by evening.
Then the atmosphere flips quickly.
Cold air rushes in late Sunday night. Rain may briefly mix with wet snow before transitioning to light snow showers. Accumulation looks minor for now, but temperatures will plunge.
By Monday morning, Kansas City wakes up to sharply colder air. Highs struggle to reach around 30°F despite sunshine.
