Springfield, MO – A storm system is set to bring showers, strong winds, and possible flooding to southwest Missouri starting Monday. Residents should prepare for heavy rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Springfield, Monday will be partly sunny with a high near 58°F, but showers could develop late in the evening. By Tuesday, storms will intensify, bringing a 100% chance of rain, with some storms potentially turning severe. The heaviest rainfall is expected overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Gusty conditions will persist throughout the week, with winds reaching up to 30 mph Tuesday and 40 mph on Wednesday. Cooler temperatures will follow, with highs dropping to the mid-40s by midweek. By Thursday, sunshine is expected to return, with highs climbing back into the 50s.

Residents should stay alert for weather updates and prepare for possible localized flooding. The combination of rain and wind may cause travel disruptions, especially along major roads like I-44. If driving, be cautious of slick roads and reduced visibility.

By Friday, the forecast improves, with partly sunny skies and highs near 60°F, offering a pleasant start to the weekend. Stay tuned for further updates as conditions develop.
