Kansas City, MO – Northern Missouri is gearing up for two rounds of winter weather this week, beginning with light snow Thursday. Up to one inch of snow is expected along and north of Highway 36 during daylight hours. A stronger system will move in Sunday, bringing heavier snow and significant travel impacts.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Thursday’s snowfall will mainly affect daytime commuters, with slick conditions likely on untreated roads. Drivers are urged to plan for reduced visibility and extra travel time.

Looking ahead, a more robust snowstorm is forecast for Sunday into Monday, with widespread accumulations exceeding two inches. This system could cause widespread disruptions, particularly for those traveling after the weekend. Cooler temperatures will follow, with highs struggling to surpass 30°F early next week.
