St. Louis, MO – A cold front moving into Missouri late Friday is set to bring rain and a wintry mix, potentially impacting travel along major roadways like I-44. The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts rain chances to rise after 6 p.m. Friday, with precipitation lingering until early Saturday morning.

According to the NWS St. Louis office, areas along and south of I-44 in Missouri and I-70 in Illinois are most likely to see rain, with a 70–90% chance of precipitation. While light snow could mix in at times, significant accumulations or impacts are not expected. Drivers should remain cautious on wet roads and reduce speeds in case of slick conditions.

Friday’s high is forecast near 48°F, dropping to 29°F overnight as the cold front passes. Northwest winds up to 20 mph will add to the chill. Saturday will see clearing skies, but temperatures will struggle to reach a high of 27°F, falling to a frigid 14°F overnight.

Looking ahead, Sunday will remain cold, with highs near 19°F and lows dipping to 5°F overnight. The region could face even colder conditions by Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with highs near 17°F.

Prepare now for colder weather by checking heating systems and monitoring road conditions. Stay updated by following your local NWS office or emergency alert systems.
