St. Louis, MO – Missouri residents are set to experience dangerously cold temperatures Wednesday as an arctic air mass settles over the region. Wind chill values could drop as low as -25°F, increasing the risk of frostbite in under 30 minutes.
According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until Wednesday evening, with an Extreme Cold Watch extending through Thursday morning. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor exposure, dress in layers, and check on vulnerable individuals.
Wednesday’s high will only reach 9°F, with wind chills making it feel much colder. Conditions will improve Thursday, with sunny skies and a high of 12°F. A warming trend begins Friday, with temperatures climbing into the mid-20s before reaching the upper 30s over the weekend.
Snowfall from the recent winter storm has left roads icy, particularly on I-64 and I-70, creating hazardous travel conditions. Drivers should use caution, allow extra travel time, and check for road updates before heading out.
With relief in sight this weekend, residents should prepare for a few more days of extreme cold before temperatures moderate.
