Jonesboro, AR – A flash flood warning remains in effect until 3:15 p.m. Thursday for Craighead, Greene, north-central Poinsett, and southwestern Dunklin counties as heavy thunderstorms continue to produce significant rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, between 2 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen, with additional rainfall expected. Flash flooding has been reported across the region, impacting small creeks, urban areas, highways, and low-lying locations.

Flooded areas include Jonesboro, Paragould, Trumann, Bono, Lake City, and several state parks, including Crowley’s Ridge and Lake Frierson. Motorists are advised to avoid flooded roads and find alternate routes.

Residents should remain alert as conditions may worsen. The NWS urges people to follow the “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” rule when encountering flooded roadways, as most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.

The storm is expected to persist into the afternoon, potentially causing further flash flooding. Those in affected areas should monitor local weather updates and take necessary precautions.
