Columbia, Missouri – Seven tornadoes touched down across central Missouri and southwestern Illinois on April 20, including a damaging EF2 north of New Bloomfield that destroyed part of a home and downed trees near Guthrie.
According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, the tornado outbreak began shortly after 1:30 p.m. Friday and lasted into the evening, with twisters confirmed in Boone, Callaway, Adams, Randolph, Monroe, and St. Clair counties. All tornadoes were rated EF0 to EF2, with no reported injuries or fatalities.
The strongest tornado—an EF2 with winds between 111 and 135 mph—tracked 2.7 miles in Callaway County, snapping trees and damaging structures. In Columbia, Missouri, an EF1 tornado cut a 6.37-mile path through the city between 5:18 and 5:25 p.m., damaging power lines and buildings near Highway 763.
In Illinois, an EF1 tornado traveled 7.3 miles from Madonnaville into southern Waterloo, while another briefly touched down near Baldwin in Randolph County. Additional tornadoes were confirmed near Camp Point (EF0), Millstadt (EF0), and Gilmore Lake near Columbia, IL (EF1).
