St. Louis, MO – Rain is expected Saturday across Missouri and Illinois, mainly along and south of I-44 in Missouri and I-55 in Illinois. Light snow may develop as the system exits late Saturday. Accumulations will likely be minimal.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis, temperatures will drop significantly after the storm, bringing an arctic air mass to the Midwest from February 18-22. Areas along and north of I-70 may see sub-zero temperatures.
The NWS urges residents to winterize pipes and check on at-risk individuals. Overnight lows will likely fall well below normal, making conditions hazardous. Exposure to extreme cold for even short periods could be dangerous.
Confidence in the forecast is 80-90%, with the highest risk in northern Missouri and central Illinois. Residents should prepare for potential travel disruptions, increased heating demands, and icy conditions.
