Jackson, MS – Patchy dense fog could impact travel across parts of southern Mississippi this morning and again tonight, potentially reducing visibility to as low as ½ mile. The fog will be most prevalent through 9 a.m. today, with another round expected between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service, the fog poses a “limited” threat to travelers, with low visibility making roads hazardous, particularly in areas around Brookhaven, Laurel, and Hattiesburg. Drivers are urged to slow down and use low-beam headlights for better visibility in these areas.
The fog may linger along Interstate 59 and other major highways in the affected zones, including portions of Interstate 20. Additionally, while temperatures climb into the upper 80s and low 90s later today, visibility issues are expected to improve after 9 a.m. in the morning.
If you’re heading out early, keep an eye on local advisories, as fog could return tonight and early Wednesday. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the situation for any changes or updates to the alert.
