Jackson, MS – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday as freezing rain moves into the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, affected areas include southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana, and central to northwestern Mississippi. A light glaze of ice is expected, which could create hazardous travel conditions on roads, bridges, and sidewalks. Some areas in Louisiana, including Madison and Franklin parishes, may also see light snow.

Authorities warn that icy conditions could make the Wednesday morning commute treacherous. Residents are advised to drive with caution, reduce speed, and prepare for potential power outages.

Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing later Wednesday morning, improving road conditions. Travelers can check the latest road updates by dialing 511 in their respective states.
