Jackson, MS – Rain is expected to sweep across Mississippi starting tonight, bringing cooler temperatures and a soggy start to Thursday. Residents along the I-55 corridor should prepare for slick roads and plan ahead for potential travel delays.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, showers will develop late Wednesday evening and persist into early Thursday morning. Temperatures will drop overnight to a low of 47 degrees before rebounding slightly to 53 degrees by Thursday afternoon. Winds will shift to the north at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph, adding a chill to the air.

By Friday, skies will clear, offering sunny conditions and a high near 48 degrees. Calm winds will provide a brief respite before another round of light rain moves into the area Saturday night. While rain chances remain low Saturday at 20%, Sunday brings a higher probability of 50% and warmer temperatures reaching 66 degrees.

Drivers should exercise caution on wet roadways, especially during the Thursday morning commute. Minimal rainfall accumulation is expected but may cause temporary ponding in low-lying areas.

Looking ahead, Monday is shaping up to be another rainy day, with a significant 80% chance of precipitation. Temperatures will stay mild, with highs in the mid-60s through early next week.

Residents should monitor local forecasts for updates and adjust plans accordingly to avoid being caught in the rain.
