La Crosse, WI – A powerful winter storm is set to impact parts of southeast Minnesota and central Wisconsin on Wednesday, bringing heavy snow and strong winds that could create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in La Crosse, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CDT Wednesday for areas including Winona, Medford, Neillsville, and Black River Falls. Forecasts predict 4 to 7 inches of snowfall, with wind gusts reaching 45 mph, leading to near-whiteout conditions at times.

The storm is expected to intensify during the morning and afternoon, impacting both morning and evening commutes. Blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility, making travel hazardous. Motorists are urged to use caution and check road conditions at 511mn.org (Minnesota) and 511wi.gov (Wisconsin) before traveling.

Residents are advised to prepare for potential power outages and ensure they have emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water. The storm is expected to move out of the region by Wednesday night, with improving conditions into Thursday.
