Duluth, Minnesota – Heavy rain continues to drench northeastern Minnesota Saturday morning, triggering a Flood Watch that remains in effect through 1 p.m. Areas from Duluth to Grand Marais could see an additional 1 to 2.5 inches of rain, with saturated soils increasing the risk of localized flooding.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the heaviest rainfall is expected in far eastern Minnesota, especially near the North Shore, while scattered showers stretch into northwestern Wisconsin. Cities like Brainerd, Ely, and Silver Bay are likely to receive another inch of rain or more before conditions begin to ease later this afternoon.
Meanwhile, inland areas of north-central Wisconsin are under a marginal severe weather risk through early evening. The Weather Service says scattered strong storms could form near Hayward, Park Falls, and Phillips, with damaging wind gusts and small hail possible. Rainfall in some areas may exceed one inch in a short period.
Residents in flood-prone zones should avoid low-lying roads and clear nearby storm drains. Power outages may occur with stronger cells; charging devices and securing outdoor objects is advised.
Rain chances taper by late evening, but updates are expected as conditions evolve. Another round of storms may develop by Sunday.
